Jono's Surgery

We went to the beach last week with Jamie's family - Nana, Pops, Aunt Emmy, Uncle Ryan, Eric, Emma, and Meredith. We had a great time. The adult to child ratio was one to one. I let people help me this time and was able to relax. It was great.

Upon our return, my mom and Aunt Nancy were here. We hung out some, Aunt Nancy left Sunday, and Mom was here to stay with Jackson and Joel while we took Jonathan to have ear tubes put in, a partial adenoidectomy, and his tonsils removed Monday morning. When Jonathan is put to sleep, his heart rate slows more so than another child and he can have breathing issues. So, his doctor has him stay overnight at the hospital. Jonathan came out of the surgery just fine and went to a room afterwards. He was out of sorts in recovery and was scared. He kept signing "bye-bye" because he was ready to go. We escorted him to a room and stayed there, watching movies. We made certain he got his meds and that he drank lots of fluids. Jamie stayed the night with him and I went home to the boys for lunch and again that night.

Jono came home after lunch. My mom picked us up. When we reached the lobby, I put him on the floor and he raced for the doors - something one should not do after having tonsils removed. We got home and he was lethargic the rest of the day.

Wednesday Mom went home. Jonathan has been his normal self since then and not really requiring any pain meds. He eats pancakes, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, popsicles, ice cream, and fruit roll ups. We went outside and he played in a baby pool, on the play set, and on the computer. He is staying hydrated. We shall see if this continues!

Jackson is gearing up for school. He met his teacher, Mrs. Wilson. She is new to the system. Jackson was excited to meet her and see all his friends. He has been hanging with Nana while Jono recovers. He will come home to our boring house tomorrow.:)

Jonathan starts preschool in our school system the week after Jackson. I am hoping for a smooth transition. We are in the throws of trying to come up with a home plan for Jonathan's behavior. I have had many suggestions given to me over the last few months. We have met with a behaviorist, a behavioral psychologist, and I am still making calls. Several suggested more structure at home, one suggested meds, and now I am trying to make sense of it all.

Joel is the easiest of the three. He is plugging along. Yesterday was the first day I noticed three different naps. He has just been going everywhere with us and catnapping. I am hoping for a routine next week.

I will post pix soon!
